Russian Forces Counter Ukrainian Incursion Attempts

Russian forces have thwarted a Ukrainian sabotage team attempting to cross the western Bryansk region border. Despite Ukrainian breakthroughs in the Kursk region, Russian defenses remain strong, pushing back advances and handling drone threats. Authorities report no casualties from drone-induced fires in the Volgograd region.

Russian forces have successfully thwarted a Ukrainian sabotage team as it attempted to cross the border in the western Bryansk region, approximately 240 km from Ukraine's incursion site in the neighboring Kursk region, according to a Russian official.

On Wednesday, Russian authorities announced advancements in eastern Ukraine, along with efforts to repel Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region. However, a senior commander warned of potential regrouping by Ukrainian forces for another attack. Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz stated that Federal Security Service border guards and Russian military units repelled the attempted incursion in the Klimovo district, adjacent to Ukraine's Chernihiv region.

The Bryansk region is situated northwest of the Kursk region, where a Ukrainian incursion has been ongoing since early August. Ukraine breached the Russian border in the Kursk region on Aug. 6 in an effort to divert Moscow’s troops from the frontlines. Despite these incursions, Russian forces have continued their advances in eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russia's defence ministry reported the downing of 28 drones over Russian territory, causing a fire at a military facility in the Volgograd region. Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed there were no casualties.
