The Bombay High Court on Thursday condemned the shocking sexual assault on two minor girls at a school in Badlapur and emphasized that the safety and security of girls cannot be compromised.

A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Prithviraj Chavan criticized the school authorities for failing to report the incident and censured the police for their delayed response in registering the FIR. The court, having taken suo motu cognisance, noted that the police acted only after public protests erupted, and described the police investigation as inadequate.

The bench insisted on justice for the victimized children and directed immediate steps to ensure support for the victims and their families. Additionally, the court mandated the Special Investigation Team to submit a comprehensive report by August 27, detailing actions taken, including explanations for delayed FIR registration and interviews.
