Protests have erupted in Assam's Nagaon district after a 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three individuals. The incident, which occurred while the girl was returning home from her tuition, has led to widespread outrage among the community.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured that stringent action will be taken against the culprits. According to police reports, the girl was assaulted and left in an injured and unconscious state near a pond in the Dhing area. One suspect has been arrested, and a search for the remaining perpetrators is underway.
The victim is currently receiving medical treatment, and the case has been filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The incident has triggered protests not only in Nagaon but across neighboring areas, with citizens demanding justice and increased security for women and girls.
