The Delhi High Court has mandated the eviction of an 80-year-old woman's son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren from her property after she claimed they subjected her to harassment and ill-treatment.

Invoking the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, the octogenarian emphasized that she was the sole owner of the house and received no care from her son and daughter-in-law, exacerbating her distress due to their ongoing marital discord.

Justice Sanjeev Narula highlighted that the daughter-in-law's residence rights are not absolute and must align with the Senior Citizens Act, which supports the eviction of occupants causing senior citizens' distress.

The court also instructed the son to provide Rs 25,000 to his wife for alternative accommodation and called for the family's vacate within two months.
