A hand grenade was discovered in a consignment by a waste cloth unit at the Kandla special economic zone (SEZ) in Gujarat on Saturday, according to the police.
The grenade, believed to be of a kind used by United States armed forces, was confirmed to be inactive by an official.
The discovery was made during the sorting process, said Superintendent of Police, Kutch (East), Sagar Bagmar. The police are currently investigating the situation.
Located nine kilometers from Kandla Port, Kandla SEZ is recognized as the country's largest multi-product SEZ, spanning over 1,000 acres with more than 300 operational units.
