Jharkhand Bandh: Lukewarm Response Amid Key Demands

The bandh called by Jharkhand Andolankari Sangharsh Morcha (JASM) saw minimal impact with minor road blockades reported in Hazaribag, East Singhbum, and Ranchi. Despite JASM's key demands, traffic and business operations remained largely unaffected. JASM founder Pushkar Mahto declared the protest a success with significant supporter turnout.

The bandh orchestrated by the Jharkhand Andolankari Sangharsh Morcha (JASM) on Wednesday witnessed limited impact, as per police reports. Only isolated road blockades were reported state-wide.

Key demands of the Morcha included a distinct identity for participants of the Jharkhand movement, a monthly pension of Rs 50,000 for them, and job assurances for their offspring.

Minor disruptions in regions like Hazaribag, East Singhbhum, and Ranchi were noted, but overall, traffic stayed largely unaffected, with shops and offices remaining open in major cities.

Sachidanand Singh, President of the Jharkhand Bus Owners Association, confirmed normal bus services barring a few blockades.

Pushkar Mahto, JASM founder and principal secretary, asserted the bandh’s success, citing thousands of supporters backing the movement's demands.
