Shiv Sena Bodyguard Arrested for Iron Rod Attack in Raigad

A 35-year-old man, Shivaji Sonavale, was arrested for assaulting another man with an iron rod in Maharashtra's Raigad district. The accused, allegedly a bodyguard of ruling Shiv Sena MLA Mahendra Thorve, attacked the victim in his car. The incident was captured on video and circulated online.

A 35-year-old individual, identified as Shivaji Sonavale, was arrested for allegedly attacking a man with an iron rod while he sat in a car with his family in Maharashtra's Raigad district, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) has claimed that the accused is a bodyguard of Shiv Sena MLA from Karjat, Mahendra Thorve. The assault occurred last Saturday in Neral, when Sonavale, a resident of Karjat taluka, purportedly attacked the victim in the vehicle.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media platforms. Police have registered a case against Sonavale and he has been taken into custody. Initial reports suggest that the altercation stemmed from a dispute over a broken car window. The opposition party criticized Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alleging a decline in the state's law and order situation.
