Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday accused the Yogi Adityanath government of turning Uttar Pradesh into the 'capital of fake encounters,' alleging deliberate killings of crime suspects in staged police gunfights.
Yadav argued that individuals from backward, Dalit, and minority communities were primarily targeted. He cited the recent 'encounter death' of Mandesh Yadav, a suspect in a jewellery store robbery in Sultanpur district, to illustrate his claims.
The former chief minister criticized the official narrative surrounding these encounters and accused the government of lacking empathy and stripping away constitutional rights.
