In a rare statement, the Israeli military confirmed on Friday that it targeted several terrorists in southern Syria who were conducting activities against Israel. This announcement comes just days after Syrian state media reported Israeli airstrikes that killed 16 people and injured dozens in western Syria.
The Israeli military usually refrains from commenting on its actions in Syria. It also declined to address a New York Times report alleging that Israeli special forces raided a weapons manufacturing site near the Syria-Lebanon border last Sunday.
According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, Israel conducted strikes on multiple military sites in Syria's central region, although specific targets were not disclosed.
