Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday that the government is poised to make an imminent announcement regarding the country's long-awaited census.

Responding to a query on the delayed decadal census, initially set for 2020 but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shah stated, "We will announce it very soon." He declared this while addressing a press conference marking the 100 days of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term.

Various details of the upcoming census, including a new digital self-enumeration process, will be disclosed in due course. This census is set to be comprehensive, gathering data on parameters such as household amenities, access to resources, and socio-economic status.
