Class 9 Student Fatally Attacked by Classmate in Assam School

A class 9 student, Bhabesh Deka, was killed by a classmate following a quarrel at their school in Assam's Darrang district. Authorities, alerted by the headmaster, have detained the headmaster, teachers, and staff. An inquiry will determine any negligence on the school's part.

A tragic incident unfolded at Padum Pukhuri High School in Assam's Darrang district where a class 9 student, Bhabesh Deka, was killed by a classmate following a heated quarrel, police reported on Monday.

Darrang SP Prakash Sonowal stated that the headmaster promptly informed local authorities about the incident. According to the teachers, the disagreement between the two students escalated, leading to severe injuries to Deka, who was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The police have detained the headmaster, six teachers, and a grade-IV staff member for questioning. An inspector will conduct an inquiry to determine if negligence played a role. Sonowal confirmed that a report will also be submitted to the district commissioner.
