Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena (UBT) on Tuesday cast doubts on the police encounter of Akshay Shinde, an accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, claiming it was orchestrated to shield the school management.

Raut suggested that the encounter aimed to conceal key evidence and questioned the plausibility of Shinde snatching a cop's gun and firing. He asserted that the main perpetrators were being protected by high-level state officials.

Conversely, Shiv Sena spokesman Naresh Mhaske defended the police action, criticizing opposition rhetoric as damaging to law enforcement morale. He accused the opposition of prioritizing political gains over justice.
