Family Tragedy: Odisha Parents Arrested for Daughter's Suicide

In a tragic turn of events, the Odisha Police have arrested a couple from Ganjam district for allegedly abetting the suicide of their 20-year-old daughter. The young woman, identified as Rani Pradhan, reportedly set herself on fire after enduring continuous emotional distress.

The incident took place in the Kukudakhandi area where Rani allegedly took the drastic step following a row with her father regarding her examination fees. It is reported that her father, Ashok Kumar Pradhan, handed her Rs 500 and asked her to leave their home, pushing her to the brink.

The accused, Rani's father Ashok and stepmother Jyotsna Pradhan, face allegations of relentless torture. The police revealed that Rani had frequently been instigated to take her own life. A dying declaration was recorded at MKCG Medical College and Hospital before she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
