Tragedy struck in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as suspected militants launched a deadly ambush on a police van, killing two officers and injuring three others. The attack took place in the Tank district while the officers were on patrol duty.

The assailants targeted the van near Pathan Kot, leading to the immediate loss of life and injury. The victims were swiftly transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police have ignited a frantic search operation in pursuit of the perpetrators, though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.

Elsewhere in the province, violence continued unabated with the murder of a local Shia community leader, Hamid Askari, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen. Additionally, the Pakistani Taliban has taken credit for the abduction of a visiting Frontier Corps soldier, further destabilizing the region.
