Major Bureaucratic Shuffle in India's Top Posts

In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, DGCA chief Vikram Dev Dutt has been appointed as the coal secretary. The government has made several high-profile appointments, including V Umashankar as the road transport secretary and Tanmay Kumar as the environment secretary. Other notable changes include appointments in ministries of food processing and housing.

In a major reshuffle at the top bureaucratic level, Vikram Dev Dutt, the current chief of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has been appointed as the coal secretary. This change is part of a broader reorganization initiated by the Centre on Saturday.

V Umashankar has taken on the role of secretary for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The environment secretary role will be filled by Tanmay Kumar, who will ascend to this position following Leena Nandan's retirement. Subrata Gupta is set to become the secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

Additional appointments include S Gopalakrishnan as chairman of the Staff Selection Commission, succeeding Rakesh Ranjan, and Puneet Kumar Goel as the secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. The reshuffle concludes by promoting Neerja Sekhar to special secretary within the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
