Swift Response to Tanker Engine Room Fire in Singapore Waters

A fire erupted in the engine room of the Malta-flagged tanker MED ATLANTIC, anchored in the East Johor Straits within Singapore waters, according to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Monday.

The MPA confirmed that all 22 crew members successfully disembarked from the vessel and are unharmed.

In an immediate response, the MPA deployed a patrol craft, two Police Coast Guard craft, three marine firefighting and rescue vessels from the Singapore Civil Defence Force, and two tugboats to assist and ensure navigational safety in the area.
