Drone Debris Sparks Chaos in Kyiv
Falling debris from a Russian drone damaged a residential area in Kyiv, injuring two people and setting a building on fire. Ukraine's air defense units are responding to repel the attack. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties and destruction across Ukraine.
In Kyiv, falling debris from a destroyed Russian drone injured two individuals and ignited a residential building, according to the city's mayor on Tuesday.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that one injured person in Kyiv's Solomianskyi district was hospitalized. He added that several cars caught fire as well. A Reuters witness observed smoke rising over the western residential area of the city, as images from Kyiv's military administration circulated showing burning vehicles and structures.
The administration noted that Ukraine's air defense units are actively attempting to thwart a Russian drone assault on Kyiv, with additional debris hitting the western Sviatoshynskyi district. Meanwhile, Moscow has abstained from commenting and maintains that civilians are not targeted in the conflict initiated by its February 2022 invasion.
