High-Profile Arrests Shake Muzaffarnagar Riot Case

Several BJP leaders, including Uttar Pradesh minister Kapil Dev Agrawal, surrendered in a Muzaffarnagar riots case as warrants were issued for non-appearance. In a significant development, multiple BJP leaders, notably Uttar Pradesh Minister Kapil Dev Agrawal, surrendered to a special court concerning a high-profile Muzaffarnagar riots case. These surrenders followed the issuance of non-bailable warrants due to their previous absence from court proceedings.

Special Judge Devendra Faujdar, presiding over the matter in the MP-MLA court, annulled the outstanding warrants dated October 21. He set November 16 as the new date for charge delineation. Meanwhile, Yati Narsinghanand, the contentious head priest of Dasna Devi temple, remained absent, prompting another non-bailable warrant against him.

The accused are charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, which include promoting enmity and inciting violence. These events originated from a 2013 panchayat meeting that spiraled into a violent clash, leaving over 60 dead and displacing more than 40,000 people in Uttar Pradesh.
