According to police, the shootout happened after Gursharan and Paras retrieved weapons they had previously hidden in nearby bushes. In their bid to escape, they opened fire on Amritsar Rural police personnel. Officers, acting in self-defense, shot Gursharan, resulting in his death, while Paras managed to evade capture by leaping into a river.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Satinder Singh, confirmed that the gangsters were involved in various criminal cases, including murder. A comprehensive search operation is underway to apprehend the fugitive, Paras.
