Uttar Pradesh Electricity Scrutiny Uncovers Billing Anomalies at MP's Premises

The Uttar Pradesh electricity department has discovered irregularities in electricity usage at the premises of Samajwadi Party MP Zia Ur Rehman, including billing discrepancies and unupdated meter details. Authorities are sealing a meter and issuing a notice for examination. The MP is also under investigation for recent violent clashes in Sambhal.

In a recent investigation, the Uttar Pradesh electricity department revealed usage irregularities at the property of Samajwadi Party MP Zia Ur Rehman. Discrepancies include a meter registered under a deceased relative's name and six months of alleged zero consumption.

Officials have initiated measures by sealing a suspect meter and ordering a comprehensive laboratory examination. They asserted that the process will be conducted with transparency, with video documentation.

This heightened scrutiny occurs alongside ongoing investigations into MP Zia Ur Rehman's involvement in last month's violent clashes in Sambhal, which erupted over a court-ordered survey of a historic mosque.
