Restoring Ties: High-Stakes Dialogue Between India and China

Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi resumed the Special Representatives dialogue. The talks sought to restore bilateral ties frozen due to a military standoff in eastern Ladakh, with both sides discussing peace management along the LAC and exploring solutions for boundary issues.

The much-anticipated Special Representatives dialogue between Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi took place on Wednesday. This meeting aims to thaw bilateral relations that have been stagnant for over four years following military tensions in eastern Ladakh.

Heading the Indian delegation, Doval arrived a day earlier with talks beginning at 10 AM China time. The agenda includes maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control and rebuilding ties disrupted since May 2020, following the disengagement agreement finalized last month.

China has expressed readiness to address and settle differences sincerely, as emphasized by Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian. The successful completion of this dialogue is seen as pivotal following the Modi-Xi meeting during the October BRICS summit in Russia.
