The recent parole of Kodi Suni, convicted in the high-profile 2012 T P Chandrasekharan murder case, has set off a new wave of political controversy in Kerala. The opposition, led by the Congress-UDF, claims the decision challenges the legal system's integrity and accuses the ruling CPI(M) of conspiracy.
Chandrasekharan, a Revolutionary Marxist Party leader, was murdered in 2012, sparking allegations against CPI(M) leaders. Kodi Suni, imprisoned for this crime, was granted a 30-day parole by the prison authorities, following a recommendation by the Kerala State Human Rights Commission.
The parole has been met with protests, notably from Chandrasekharan's widow and opposition leader V D Satheesan, who questioned the motives behind the move. Allegations suggest the involvement of Kerala's Chief Minister, intensifying political tensions in the state.
