Tragedy struck a Hardoi police station on Monday morning when Anoop, 36, allegedly shot his 35-year-old wife, Soni, in a shocking act of violence. This occurred merely days after Anoop had lodged a complaint claiming that Soni had eloped with her lover, taking cash and jewelry.
The incident unfolded as Soni was being escorted to the court by a female constable for legal proceedings. Anoop, who was apparently waiting for the moment, approached Soni from behind and shot her, causing panic within the station. Security personnel acted swiftly, apprehending Anoop and retrieving the murder weapon.
Despite immediate medical attention, Soni succumbed to her injuries at the district hospital. In response to this shocking breach of security, Hardoi Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena has suspended an investigating officer and female constable for negligence and is investigating further security lapses.
