Priests Protest: Kejriwal's Scheme Sparks Controversy

A protest by priests outside the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir against Delhi's ex-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has raised questions about the lack of financial support from government schemes over the past decade. Despite Kejriwal's announcement of the Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana, opposition leaders claim it's merely an election promise.

A group of priests staged a protest outside the Pracheen Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place, demanding former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal clarify the lack of financial support from government schemes over the last 10 years.

Kejriwal announced plans to provide a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 to Hindu temple priests and granthis of Gurudwaras under the newly introduced Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana. Registration for the scheme commenced on Tuesday, gaining attention across the city.

However, BJP leader Vijay Goel criticized the announcement, labeling it as an election tactic. Goel questioned why Kejriwal wasn't addressing pressing issues like water scarcity, pollution, corruption, and infrastructure during his campaign.
