Azerbaijan Sues Armenia Over Environmental Damage in Retaken Areas

Azerbaijan has filed a lawsuit against Armenia at The Hague, accusing it of causing irreversible environmental damage in regions Azerbaijan reclaimed, citing deforestation, unsustainable logging, and mining. The legal action alleges Armenia violated the Berne Convention, as both countries continue efforts toward peace following decades of conflict.

Azerbaijan has taken legal action against Armenia in the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, accusing Armenia of extensive environmental damage in areas once controlled by Yerevan.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry claims Armenia has perpetrated widespread deforestation, unsustainable practices in logging and mining, and constructed hydropower plants in reclaimed regions.

Armenia's alleged activities have reportedly caused irreparable harm to local habitats, violating the Berne Convention. Both nations aim for peace after years of conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, but diplomatic progress remains tenuous.
