Haryana's Crackdown on Illegal Mining: A Robust Offensive

The Mines and Geology Department of Haryana is intensifying efforts to curb illegal mining. Officials have inspected nearly 4,000 sites, seizing hundreds of vehicles and registering numerous FIRs. A robust enforcement strategy, including advanced tech and drones, is in place to protect natural resources.

The Mines and Geology Department of Haryana has ramped up its efforts to combat illegal mining across the state. According to an official statement released on Thursday, district-level officials have inspected 3,950 locations as part of a special initiative aimed at eradicating unauthorized excavation.

Between January and February 10, this extensive operation led to the seizure of 324 vehicles involved in unlawful mining activities. The department has developed a comprehensive enforcement strategy, including regular inspections, constant monitoring, and the use of cutting-edge technology such as drones to effectively control the situation.

Recently, in response to a complaint from Bhagwapur village in Yamunanagar district, authorities conducted a detailed inspection, revealing illegal extraction of materials over two acres. A substantial fine and an FIR were promptly issued. Regular district-wide inspections are ongoing as the department remains committed to eradicating illegal mining to safeguard natural resources and prevent revenue loss.
