In a recent clarification, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that the Controller General of Patents, Designs and TradeMarks (CGPDTM) will only move its administration and finance division to Delhi, while maintaining the Mumbai operational base.
This announcement addresses claims by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, who alleged that the entire headquarters was being shifted, prompting debate and criticism on social media.
The minister highlighted that since 2014, India's patent and trademark system has seen remarkable growth, positioning the country competitively on the global stage.
