The much-anticipated 30-day budget session of the Mizoram legislative assembly began on Wednesday. Governor Vijay Kumar Singh gave his maiden address, marking a significant moment for the assembly. This session promises to be pivotal, not only for its duration but for the crucial agendas set to unfold.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who also holds the finance portfolio, is poised to present the annual state budget for the financial year 2025-2026 on March 4. This budget presentation will be closely watched, as it could set the financial course for the coming year, being the fourth session under the current Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) government.
Several impactful bills will be tabled, including one for establishing a state university and another allowing private placement agencies to facilitate youth employment abroad.
