Security Forces Crack Down in Manipur: Arrests and Seizures

Security forces in Manipur arrested two individuals, including an active PLA cadre, and seized over Rs 34 lakhs in unaccounted cash. The arrests spanned the districts of Imphal East and Churachandpur and included the recovery of firearms and suspected drugs.

In a significant operation, Manipur's security forces have successfully apprehended two individuals, one being an active cadre of the outlawed Peoples' Liberation Army (PLA). The arrests took place in Imphal East and Churachandpur districts on Monday and were confirmed by police on Tuesday.

The PLA cadre, detained in Khongman Mangjil, Imphal East, is accused of extorting government officials, educators, and the general public. Meanwhile, another suspect was arrested near Sangai University in Churachandpur, carrying unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 34,20,000.

The operation also led to the recovery of firearms and suspected drugs, including an automatic rifle, homemade guns, and explosive mortars from T Khullen village in Kangpokpi District, highlighting an ongoing crackdown against illicit activities in the region.
