A pivotal decision awaits in a Delhi court on February 25 as the judge will determine whether to take cognisance of a chargesheet in the land-for-jobs scam involving ex-railway minister Lalu Prasad. The chargesheet alleges misuse of office during Prasad's tenure, with land exchanges for railway job appointments.
The decision was postponed by Special Judge Vishal Gogne after discussions with the CBI, which earlier clarified aspects of the case. Queries raised by the judge focused on points of distinctiveness in the allegations. The agency had emphasized receiving necessary sanctions for public servant R K Mahajan's prosecution.
The case, registered by the CBI in May 2022, implicates Lalu Prasad, his family members, and several officials. It centers on Group-D job appointments in the West Central Zone of Railways between 2004-2009, allegedly in exchange for land parcels transferred to Prasad's family or associates.
