In a significant development, a Bangladeshi national has been detained in Delhi's Shahdara for allegedly residing illegally in India for the past five years. The man, identified as Shah Ali, hails from Purvashipa Baroi Khali village in Bangladesh.

Officials revealed that Ali has been running a tea stall in the Seemapuri area. Shahdara's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Prashant Gautam, confirmed the arrest and said that Ali admitted entering India unlawfully.

Ali, previously deported by the Bangladeshi Cell, re-entered India in 2018. He has been taken to the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office in R K Puram for further legal formalities, the police said.
