On Friday, the ruling Shiv Sena accused certain Muslim real estate developers in Mumbai of engaging in 'housing jihad' within slum rehabilitation projects. Allegations were made that these developers manipulated beneficiary lists to favor individuals from their community, thereby affecting the city's demographics.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam highlighted areas like Govandi, Mankhurd, Kurla, Saki Naka, and Bandra, asserting that in some projects, Hindu-majority housing societies were converted to Muslim-majority ones. He claimed that records were falsified, showing one family receiving multiple housing allocations when only one is permitted.

Calling for a full investigation into these practices, Nirupam revealed cases of ineligible beneficiary count increases and alleged illegal residents. He urged Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to address these purported violations, stressing the need for urgent corrective actions.
