In a dramatic last-minute arrest, Gurugram police have apprehended a cyber fraud suspect at Chennai airport. The accused, identified as Ahamad Nisham, was caught while attempting to board a flight to Egypt, officials reported on Saturday.
Nisham is alleged to have converted the illicitly obtained money into cryptocurrency, a sum exchanged for Rs 10,000, according to police officers. The case came to light after a woman filed a complaint on January 31, accusing the fraudsters of masquerading as government officials and threatening her with imprisonment over false claims of her mobile number being linked to illegal activities.
Authorities have successfully apprehended several suspects in connection to this case, with Nisham's capture marking a significant breakthrough. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Priyanshu Dewan stated that Nisham had been eluding police but was finally brought to justice before he could flee, and investigations are ongoing.
