Punjab Police Unravels International Extortion Ring
The Punjab Police have dismantled an extortion racket linked to USA-based Gurdev Jassal. Two individuals, including a policeman, were arrested. The network used foreign numbers to make threats, resulting in a businessman paying Rs 50 lakh. Authorities recovered Rs 83 lakh, illegal arms, and luxury vehicles.

In a significant operation, Punjab Police have dismantled a major extortion racket allegedly led by Gurdev Jassal, who is based in the USA. The bust led to the arrest of two individuals, including a police officer, connected to the syndicate.
As per Punjab's Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the group was implicated in targeting a businessman from Kalanaur. Following menacing calls demanding Rs one crore, the victim was coerced into paying Rs 50 lakh. This was after a firearm incident at his petrol station.
The gang, operating transnationally, utilized foreign numbers to facilitate intimidation and payment negotiations. The crackdown resulted in the confiscation of Rs 83 lakh, several illegal firearms, and luxury vehicles, according to the DGP's statement.
