In a shocking development, four people were apprehended as part of a scheme to sell a newborn boy in Kunigal, authorities reported on Tuesday.

The arrests followed a complaint lodged by Huchcha Rangamma, a senior official in the Woman and Child Welfare Department. The complaint revealed a disturbing plan involving the child's unwed mother, her partner, and an Anganwadi worker.

According to Rangamma, the trio intended to sell the infant, born on February 20 at Kunigal Government Hospital, for Rs 60,000 to a man named Mubarak Pasha. The case underscores a grave concern about child welfare in the region.
