A major scandal has erupted in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, where a former District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) and four employees are under investigation for misplacing records linked to unlawful salary payments. The payments were allegedly made to 179 teachers and staff at government-aided secondary and Sanskrit schools.
The police have registered an FIR against Ramesh Singh, who previously held the DIOS position, along with other staff members. They are accused of colluding with school principals to authorize significant salary payouts, totaling crores, during Singh's tenure. An inquiry is underway to unravel the conspiracy.
Kotwali Station House Officer Yogendra Bahadur Singh confirmed that more actions would follow the ongoing investigations. The case underscores systemic lapses and potential corruption within the education department, casting a spotlight on administrative accountability in government-aided institutions.
