The local court has turned down the bail petitions of 10 additional defendants implicated in the Shahi Jama Masjid violence incident, increasing the total count of rejections to 29. The tumult erupted during a November survey, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.
Additional district and sessions judge Nirbhay Narayan Rai dismissed these appeals on Monday. Government counsel Hari Om Prakash Saini presented evidence, including video footage, to identify the accused who allegedly attacked the police.
With tension simmering since a court-ordered survey of the Mughal-era structure last November, the rejection of bail has propelled defense counsel Zafar Ali to seek relief from the high court.
