The Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police has arrested two individuals, Ajit Kumar Jena and Gopal Chaturvedi, as part of a larger investigation into a massive fraud operation targeting non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to the tune of over Rs 20 crore.

According to authorities, Jena and Chaturvedi assisted Ramakant Pilani, a key figure in the operation, in using forged documents to cheat NBFCs. Pilani, currently in judicial custody, formerly served as CEO of Ganesh Benzoplast Ltd and GBL Chemical Limited, with the fraud emerging following a complaint lodged by one such NBFC.

The fraudulent scheme came to light when the accused approached Lok Sewak Leasing & Investment Private Limited, claiming falsely about GBL Chemical Limited's turnover. The NBFC, under false pretenses, disbursed over Rs 20 crore, which was then diverted to multiple accounts. The police continue to investigate further aspects of the case.
