The Rachakonda Police recently cracked down on an inter-state infant trafficking ring operating between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The bust led to the apprehension of 11 individuals, including three couples who had purchased babies, and the rescue of four infants from Gujarat—a move that underscores the perils of illegal adoption practices.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement, in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), detained the suspects, among whom were K Krishnaveni and B Deepthi. They stand accused of buying infants from Vandana in Ahmedabad and selling them to families in the two southern states through intermediaries, as confirmed by Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu.

During the operation, police stopped Krishnaveni and accomplices at the Chaitanyapuri bus stop, where they were caught with a baby boy under dubious circumstances. Further investigations revealed more infants, culminating in the arrest of an assistant professor and more parties involved. The police urged the public to adhere to legal processes for adoption and avoid unauthorized channels.
