China's military conducted 'shooting training' near Taiwan's southwest coast, prompting criticism from Taipei over provocative actions. Taiwan detected 32 Chinese military aircraft conducting exercises, raising tensions over regional safety and stability. China's military intensified its activities near Taiwan's southwest coast on Wednesday, conducting 'shooting training' that Taiwan branded as provocative and dangerous. The exercises were perceived as a direct threat to both regional peace and the safety of shipping and international flights.
Taiwan's defense ministry reported the detection of 32 Chinese military aircraft in joint drills with warships in the Taiwan Strait. The exercises were held without prior warning, just 40 nautical miles off Taiwan's coast — a move considered by Taipei as a deliberate violation of international norms.
Simultaneously, China's leadership reaffirmed their commitment to reunifying Taiwan with the mainland, describing it as a priority. Taiwan's government, however, remains resolute in its stance that only its citizens have the right to decide the island's future, firmly rejecting Beijing's claims of sovereignty.
