Life Sentence for Murder of Daughter Over Illicit Affair

A court sentenced a woman and her lover to life imprisonment for murdering her daughter, Usma, due to her opposition to their affair. The Additional District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Yadav found Mukish Vano and Kausar guilty, imposing a fine on each. The case was registered on August 23, 2024.

In a decisive ruling, a local court has sentenced a widowed woman and her lover to life in prison for murdering her 19-year-old daughter, an official stated on Wednesday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Yadav found Mukish Vano and Kausar guilty of strangling Usma, due to the latter's vehement opposition to their illicit relationship, according to Government Counsel Sachin Kumar Jaiswal.

The tragic incident, which occurred on August 23, 2024, was coupled with an attempt to disguise the murder as an accident. The court imposed a 20,000 rupee fine on both culprits, closing a significant chapter in the case.
