In a significant development, Turkey's pro-Kurdish DEM Party is poised to visit Abdullah Ocalan, the incarcerated leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), within days. A DEM spokesperson announced Wednesday that the visit, potentially critical for the PKK's strategic direction, might culminate in a statement from Ocalan.

This will be the DEM delegation's third visit since December, aligning with the government's initiative to persuade Ocalan to call for the PKK's disarmament. A successful visit could mark a transformative moment in resolving the over 40-year conflict with the Turkish state. According to Aysegul Dogan, spokesperson for the DEM Party, the delegation is optimistic the meeting will happen this week.

Although Ocalan has been held in isolation on Imrali island since 1999, hopes are high for him to deliver a powerful video message. Despite some opposition, government sources anticipate that Ocalan's call for disarmament is imminent. Kurdish political veteran Ahmet Turk intends to join the delegation, further underscoring the visit's potential impact.
