Odisha Police Inspector Suspended Over Misconduct Allegations

An Odisha Police inspector was suspended following allegations of cheating a female home guard by making false promises of marriage. Detained after a complaint by the home guard, the inspector faces disciplinary proceedings for misconduct and abuse of position.

An inspector from the Odisha Police was suspended on Wednesday following serious allegations of misconduct involving a female home guard. According to officials, he allegedly engaged in a physical relationship with her under the false promise of marriage and later refused to fulfill this promise.

The revelation that the inspector was already married led to his detention after the home guard, who serves at the same police station in Jagatsinghpur district, lodged a police complaint. The complaint accuses the inspector of 'gross misconduct and abuse of official position,' prompting disciplinary actions.

As part of ensuring a fair inquiry and upholding public service integrity, an order from DGP YB Khurania placed the inspector under immediate suspension. During the suspension, he remains under the disciplinary control of the D.I.G. of Police, Central Range, Cuttack.
