Pune Police have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Dattatray Ramdas Gade, a history-sheeter accused of raping a 26-year-old woman on a state transport bus at the Swargate bus station.

Gade, 37, is currently on the run since the incident early Tuesday morning, with 13 police teams actively pursuing him. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed the reward initiative while another official provided contact numbers for tips, assuring informers of anonymity.

The case has sparked public outrage, particularly from opposition parties criticizing the BJP-led Maharashtra government on women's safety issues. Gade has a history of theft, robbery, and chain-snatching charges and was out on bail since 2019.
