DRI and Coast Guard Seize Rs 33 Crore Hashish Oil in High-Seas Operation
DRI and Indian Coast Guard seized 29.95 kg of Hashish Oil valued at Rs 33 crore from a vessel bound for Maldives. The operation, based on intelligence inputs, intercepted a gang loading the narcotics mid-sea. Three individuals were arrested and the illicit substance confiscated under NDPS Act, 1985.

DRI and the Indian Coast Guard have collaborated in a high-seas operation resulting in the seizure of 29.95 kg of Hashish Oil, valued at a staggering Rs 33 crore, from a barge headed towards the Maldives.
The operation, initiated on March 5, 2025, came after intelligence suggested that a gang in Tuticorin was clandestinely loading large quantities of the narcotic onto the vessel mid-sea, assisted by a crew member.
The vessel was intercepted off the Kanyakumari coast and escorted to Tuticorin New Port on March 7. Upon searching, two bags containing 29 plastic packets of Hashish Oil were found. Three individuals have been apprehended, with the contraband seized under the NDPS Act, 1985.
