Nepal's Prime Minister, K P Sharma Oli, has issued a call to action, urging the populace to adhere strictly to democratic procedures and uphold the constitution's principles. In a speech at the provincial assembly in Dhangadhi Municipality, Western Nepal, Oli highlighted the significant sacrifices made by the people to establish the federal democratic republic constitution.
Reacting to comments by former King Gyanendra Shah on democracy day, Oli expressed disbelief at the ex-monarch's statements suggesting a need for emotional unity. He emphasized that the current constitution is the result of people's representatives, not a gift, and dismissed any rumors about reinstating the monarch to power.
Prime Minister Oli unequivocally stated that protecting and nurturing the Constitution and the federal republic are shared responsibilities. He questioned the legitimacy of rule without the people's mandate and commended support from all political parties against conspiracies to undermine the current government structure.
