Delhi Police have successfully apprehended a man who eluded capture for nine years after allegedly murdering his wife in 2016. Sunil Kumar, who carried a bounty of Rs 25,000, was arrested in Sheikhupura, Bihar, according to officials on Monday.
The murder case dates back to October 18, 2016, when a woman's body was discovered in a plastic sack in a Ranhola room. Her husband, Sunil Kumar, became the prime suspect after the landlord reported a foul smell. Sunil fled post-crime with his daughter, then four, which prompted a Crime Branch probe.
During his years on the run, Sunil avoided high-tech communication, shifted locations regularly, and took odd jobs. After an intense search, the police captured him, confirming his confession to the crime. Sunil admitted marital disputes led to the murder committed in a moment of anger and panic.
