In a significant development for the northeastern states, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the impending conclusion of boundary demarcation between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. The process, which aims to address disputes in six districts, is being conducted jointly by both states.

During a recent assembly session, when queried by BJP legislator Wangling Lowangdong, Khandu assured that the state government is steadfast in its commitment to the Namsai Declaration, a collaborative agreement established on July 15, 2022, to mitigate boundary tensions. Additionally, he mentioned the upcoming discussions with Assam concerning Changlang district.

The reconstituted Regional Committees, established for districts including Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Kamle, Lower Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, and Longding, have been instrumental in inspection efforts. While boundary disputes have been resolved in some districts, challenges remain in others. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh maintains its stance against the 1951 Bordoloi Commission's unilateral decisions.
