Karnataka's New Initiative: Development Corporation for Jains

Karnataka's Minister for Waqf and Minority Affairs, B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, pledged the creation of a dedicated development corporation for the Jain community. His statement during the Legislative Assembly session underscored a strategic move to support the state's minority groups.

This announcement follows a survey that countered previous assumptions by revealing Karnataka's significant Jain population, totaling around 20 lakh, including those originally from Rajasthan. With this data, a proposal for the corporation has been submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for approval.

Amidst discussions on minority rights, MLA Savadi highlighted Jain contributions to the Congress symbol and urged swift action on forming a development board. Khan assured fair representation for all minorities, addressing BJP MLA Yatnal's critique of biases in resource allocation.
