A dramatic incident unfolded in Maharashtra's Palghar district where a 38-year-old woman allegedly kidnapped her three-month-old nephew. Her motive, according to local law enforcement, was to deceive her paramour into believing that they had a child together, as she sought to start a new life with him.
The baby was taken from Vasai's Mandvi area under the guise of an outing and transported to Nalanda, Bihar. Upon realizing the child's disappearance, the family lodged a complaint. An FIR under section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was promptly registered, spurring a swift police investigation.
Utilizing technical surveillance and keen intelligence, Mandvi police traced the suspect to Nalanda. The collaborative efforts with local intelligence led to a successful rescue operation. The woman, already a mother of three, had not disclosed her marital status to her paramour, intending to use the child as proof of their supposed life together. Further inquiries are underway.
